Oviatt House history presentation

Sep25

2:00 pm

Join the Richfield Historical Society on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2:00 p.m. at Richfield Fellowship Hall for a TakeMeBack Series presentation by Judy Bowman, president of Oviatt House Incorporated. Her topic will be “Oviatt House, A Jewel in Ohio’s Hidden Treasure.”  Located at the corner of W. Streetsboro Road and Oviatt Road in Richfield Heritage Preserve, the house was built in 1836 and was the residence of Mason and Fanny Oviatt along with their 11 children. Learn about the history of the house and the Oviatts with their ties to the abolitionist John Brown and the Underground Railroad. Hear about OHI’s efforts to restore this pre-Civil War structure, which was recently listed on the National Park Service’s National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom program, and plans for its future. The presentation is free and open to the public. No reservations are required. Call 330-659-4750 for additional information. ∞
