Township to upgrade park security cameras
by Laura Bednar
Sept. 9 township trustees meeting
The camera surveillance system in Sagamore Hills Park will be upgraded with new digital cameras that township police officers can access remotely through a cell phone or iPad.
Trustee David DePasquale said the current camera system is outdated and doesn’t produce a quality picture. The cameras in the park in and around the fire department building, maintenance building and concession stand will be replaced. No new cameras will be added.
Gilmore Security, the company that installed cameras at the township offices and police department across the street, is installing the new cameras, bringing all camera management under one company. DePasquale said the cost for the new cameras is $14,985.
Other expenses noted at the meeting included $2,709 for a fire department vehicle repair, $2,052 for police cruiser repair and $563,869 for the 2024 road resurfacing project.
In other road news, trustee Paul Schweikert said the road department is preparing equipment for winter and the cost of salt for the season has dropped as compared to previous years. He added that the restrooms in Sagamore Hills Park will close near the end of October.
Schweikert said he received a call from a resident asking if he endorsed the Nordonia Hills school levy that will be on the November ballot. Schweikert said trustees only support their own levies and do not endorse a levy from any other entity. ∞
