Five boys from Sagamore Hills and Northfield completed their first triathlon at Cleveland Triathlon on Aug. 18, at the age of 14. Anderson Seredick, Simon Anderson, Jack Delong and Ethan Markey are all rising freshmen at Nordonia High School and Matthew Anderson is a rising 8th-grader.
The group bonded and trained together over the summer, getting together for runs, bike rides and open swims. The boys swam 750 meters through 2-3 foot waves, biked 12 miles and ran 3 miles through heavy rain. The group had so much fun and is looking forward to racing again next summer.
Madison Angus of Sagamore Hills was one of 17 people to receive a scholarship from the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Angus is a Nordonia High School graduate attending Hiram University majoring in sports medicine. She is the daughter of Ryan and Megan Angus.
Angus said her goal is to become a physical therapist and support individuals in overcoming physical challenges and regaining their ability to participate in sports and physical activities.
“I have witnessed the physical and emotional toll that injuries can take on athletes and I am motivated to provide compassionate and effective care to those in need,” she said.
The OHHA scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors and students enrolled in a degree or certificate program. The scholarships are based on academic merit and financial need and the applicant or a family member must be an OHHA member. ∞
