‘Fill the Bus’ campaign kicks off Oct. 2
The Nordonia Hills City School District, along with Building Boosters of Nordonia Hills, will host the 10th annual “Fill the Bus” campaign from Oct. 2-26 to benefit The Emergency Assistance Center. The last day of the collection is National Make a Difference Day for 2024.
The community is asked to help fill a bus by donating unexpired, non-perishable food items. Community members can also make monetary donations to support this event by visiting teacenter.org.
Items can be dropped off at any one of the six district school buildings. Additionally, the following businesses will host community drop-off sites: Nordonia Ministerial Association, Drayer Physical Therapy in Macedonia, The Goddard School in Macedonia, KinderCare in Macedonia, VFWPost 6768 in Northfield Center, United Methodist Church in Macedonia, the Nordonia Hills Branch of Akron Summit County Library and Macedonia Parks & Recreation.
This is the 10th year for this community-supported event. The initial event collected less than 1,000 pounds of food but planted the seed for growth. In the last 9 years, the event has resulted in over 98,000 pounds of donated food for TEAC. This year, the district will surpass the 100,000-pound mark because of the support of the Nordonia Hills community.
In 2023, the food drive collected 8,500 pounds of non-perishable food items from this event. This year’s goal is to collect over 12,000 pounds. Neighbors in need will benefit greatly from the community’s generous donations.
