Trustees Corner by Trustees Monique Ascherl, Cyntia Engleman & Jack Swedyk

Hinckley has now entered the digital age with the board of trustees agreeing to create an official Township Facebook page. This is an additional resource residents can use to find factual information in a timely manner on township topics, issues and events. Items posted on the social media page will be linked to the township website where residents can find additional information on the topics posted.

In an effort to increase office hours and run the zoning office more efficiently, we have hired a full-time zoning Inspector. This change was necessary to better serve our residents and ease the burden of the administrative office. We welcome Nicole Blunk, who comes to Hinckley with many years of experience and is an excellent addition to our staff. Thanks to Tom Wilson for his many years of service as zoning inspector.

Construction is wrapping up on the east wall of the former fire station. Replacing the bay doors with new walls and windows was a necessary repair and will reduce the cost of energy used to heat and cool the building.

The township also hosted its first Independence Day Parade this year and it was a great success. Special thanks to Hinckley Preparatory Academy, the Brunswick Chick-fil-A and Minnehaha Water for their generous donations to this event. We loved seeing the creativity with the festive bikes, golf carts, four-wheelers and floats. We are looking forward to next year!

We are planning our back to school movie night on Saturday, Aug. 17, in Bronger’s Park, thanks to the Hinckley Police Association and First Day School Supplies. We will be viewing “Sing,” loved by children and adults with a mix of classic rock and pop music. Bring a blanket or lawn chair while you snack on popcorn and relax under the stars. The movie will begin at dark. ∞
