Lock 29 parking, river access in Peninsula closed

Cuyahoga Valley National Park has closed the Lock 29 parking lot and river access in Peninsula until Dec. 1, while a contractor completes riverbank stabilization work. Parking will be available at other nearby locations, and visitors will still have access to the Towpath Trail and amenities in the village of Peninsula. 

The park is continuing a riverbank stabilization project announced in 2022 to protect the tracks for Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. The Towpath Trail closure south of Station Road is still in effect on weekdays as part of this ongoing work.  

The closures are necessary for public safety while contractors use heavy equipment to complete the work.  ∞
