Angel Accents plans move to former rec center building

As soon as they can iron out some logistics, the folks at Angel Accents day care will be excited to welcome their students and families to their new facility, which will provide double the space of their current location.

Angel Accents currently offers daycare and preschool services to roughly 60 children at 4131 W. Streetsboro Rd. However, the business will be moving to a new space, which formerly housed Richfield’s recreation center, allowing the business to expand.

“There is beautiful natural light, as well as a bathroom in every room, which will be helpful for potty training and teacher convenience,” said Tim Ulewicz, a partner and co-owner in the business. “It’s just a mile south of our current location. We have been putting all of our time and energy into getting the inside done, but once we move in, we can focus on the fantastic space outside where we can construct an enormous, beautiful playground.”

Ulewicz said the new space at 3333 Brecksville Rd. is roughly 6,000 square feet compared to the 3,000 square feet of the current location. About two-and-a-half acres of undeveloped land is east of the building.

Kim Steiger and Talya Mickey are both teachers and partners in the business. They look forward to having separate rooms for each age group and bathrooms in each room.

“We have worked with what I guess you can say is the open-concept type of space, which was big in education in the 1970s. With the new location there will be more individual classrooms, which will help to control the noise,” Ulewicz said. “So the babies won’t be able to hear the toddlers and the toddlers won’t be able to hear the 3- and 4-year-olds. I think that will be better for learning.”

Angel Accents has been serving the community since 2005 and they offer an infant room for children ages six weeks to 12 months; a baby room for children 12-20 months; a toddler room for children 20 months to two-and-a half years; a 3-year-old room and a 4-year-old pre-K class. The facility also offers before and after care and a virtual learning program for school-aged children.

While everyone is excited about the move to the new building, Ulewicz said the organization has hit a snag. He said the architect who worked on the renovations for the building has not yet submitted the correct blueprints to the Summit County Building Department.

“We can’t move in until she does that,” he said. “And our lease at our current facility ends at the end of July.”

Ulewicz said he has met with Mayor Michael Wheeler and, starting Aug. 12, Angel Accents will be allowed to use the village’s Johnson Barn where Richfield hosts summer camp.

But they have nowhere to go from Aug. 1-11, he said.

He asked that if anyone could help them with temporary space, to please call him at 440-668-6628. ∞
