Please welcome Officer Mison Awad to the position of part-time police officer, Officer Morgan Miller to the position of part-time police officer, Officer Brett Lee from a part-time to full-time police officer and our new full-time K-9 officer, Nori.
Our 2023 annual jail inspection was completed by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation, and our jail facility is in full compliance with all essential standards. This is a very in-depth and demanding inspection that Officer Anthony Padula managed and coordinated.
The Ohio EPA has held up the construction of Allega Way, off Brecksville Road. We are looking at a solution that will allow the road to be finished and also allow access to pollution-monitoring wells. We could have permission to complete the road by year’s end.
Just a reminder that we are sponsoring another American Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in council chambers. To schedule an appointment, contact 1-800-RED CROSS or visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter the sponsor code, Richfield.
The 2023 Asphalt Program is winding down leaving only the lowering of Route 303 near Briarwood to be finished. It should be complete by the end of the month.

It’s October and Halloween is just around the corner. As a reminder, our Tuesday, Oct. 31, Halloween parade gathers at the Old Town Hall at 5:30 p.m. and steps off at exactly 5:45 p.m., when we will walk to the fire station for lots of goodies and fun. Trick or Treat hours will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Budget discussions are underway and will be discussed in-depth at the Oct. 3 and 17 council meetings, as well as at our Oct. 10 council work session. If you are interested, please plan to attend in person or by Zoom. Council meetings start at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
At long last, the roadwork is coming to an end. Broadview Road and Route 303 should be finished by Oct. 6 or sooner. The lowering of 303 near Briarwood should be finished by Nov. 18.
Branch pick-up stopped at the end of last month, unless we have a weather event and additional need. Leaf pick-up will start this month so get the leaves out to the street so we can pick them up.
