Shred Day scheduled for Sept. 9 (Brecksville)

Shred Your Documents Day for Brecksville residents and businesses returns on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 9 a.m.-noon, at the Brecksville Municipal Parking Lot adjacent to the fire station and service department compound on Brecksville Road.

The event provides residents and business owners with the opportunity to securely shred confidential documents that should not go in the trash.

Because the majority of participants typically want to be there at 9 a.m., those who plan to utilize the service are advised to arrive later that morning to avoid the line and save you time.

Also, the city requests everyone who attends to bring a voluntary contribution of canned goods for the Brecksville Pantry, which supplies food monthly to low-income families. The pantry is always in need of peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti and sauce, canned vegetables and canned fruit. No kinds of beans are needed. The facility is also not in need of cereal, paper products, bar soap or toothpaste at this time. Gift cards from Heinen’s and Marc’s, which allow those who frequent the food pantry to purchase meat and orange juice, are also greatly appreciated.

The Brecksville Pantry has a strict policy that out of respect for its recipients it will not distribute outdated food. Please check the expiration date on each item as a significant amount of outdated goods had to be discarded after previous shredding days.

Also, the people who sort the food have discovered opened containers with partially used contents. Participants are asked to donate only unopened products. ∞
