School board approves hiring of two new athletic trainers

North Royalton City Schools has announced the hiring of two new high school athletic trainers.  The trainers were approved by the school board June 12.

Chelsea Kuntz is the new senior athletic trainer. She has been with the Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine Department for 13 years. Previously, she worked at Wickliffe and Buckeye high schools for 12 years. She graduated from Ithaca College with an undergraduate degree in athletic training and attended Cleveland State University where she earned a master’s degree in exercise science.

KuShe is involved in many organizations at the Cleveland Clinic including both the student aide workshop group and CPR workgroup. She is interested in research and has presented case studies on behalf of the Cleveland Clinic at both local and national conferences.

“I am excited to join the North Royalton City School District and provide our athletes with outstanding medical care,” she said.

Scott Bryan MPA, AT also is a new certified athletic trainer for the District.  He has been an athletic trainer with Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine for 19 years. He previously worked at Wellington High School.  Prior to his time with the Cleveland Clinic, he served as a staff athletic trainer for Grand Valley State University. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in both sports medicine and exercise physiology from Ohio Northern University and a master’s degree in public administration from Grand Valley State University.  He received his board certification in 2002 and is currently licensed to practice in Ohio. 

“I am excited to begin a new chapter at North Royalton City Schools providing quality medical care,” he said.

Athletic Director Bo Kuntz said the North Royalton City School District and athletic department are very excited to continue their relationship with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and welcome both trainers to the North Royalton community.

“The experience and wealth of knowledge they bring to the athletic department is outstanding,” he said, noting the department is equally excited to welcome back [North Royalton] Middle School Athletic Trainer Tarryn Hardgrove.” ∞
