Goat Derby drew a fun crowd

About 1,000 people attended the inaugural Goat Derby held at the Richfield Heritage Preserve on May 6. With live music playing, food trucks were on hand to feed the crowd.  Contests were held for best costume, most creative costume, most creative hat and best-dressed couple. Raffle baskets were part of the fun.

Modeled after the Kentucky Derby horse races, goat races were held each hour with wagers taken. People sponsored the event and the goats. Many people volunteered at the event.

According to Park Director John Piepsny, the event made about $7,000 for the park.

The second Goat Derby is scheduled for May 4, 2024. ∞
