Finally realizing an invitation extended pre-COVID, the Bath Volunteers for Service joined Bath trustees on a trip to Columbus to visit the Rumpke Recycling Center and offices. The purpose of the tour was to increase understanding and awareness of the recycling process and what products can be recycled.

Attendees of this fun and educational trip included Sandy Tomazic, Susan Neff, Kasha Brackett, Richard Bradner, James McClellan, Ivan Hack, Elaina Goodrich, Lisa Mandel, Becky Corbett, Margee Frey, Amy Bowers, Donna Axson, and Lisa McClellan.

Jennifer Anand is celebrating the ten-year anniversary of her successful bone marrow transplant to treat stage IV Hodgkin’s Lymphoma with a fundraising campaign for the Cleveland-based Steven G. Cancer Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to building support and community for adolescent and young adults facing cancer. Anand serves on the foundation’s board of directors and on the patient advisory committee. She is also a regular contributor to the foundation’s magazine “Elephants and Tea,” a journal written for and by the AYA cancer community.

As a young adult, she was given a 50% chance that the transplant would work. Anand is grateful every day for the support she has received from her family, friends and the community and is determined to continue to advocate for young adult cancer survivors. Anand is the daughter of Ammu and Vijay. She grew up in Bath, graduated from the University of Akron and currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts, where she works as an engineering trainer.

Bath residents Lisa and Thom Mandel are proud to announce the birth of their grandson, Luca Michael Ciccarelli. Luca is the son of Revere alumni Sheri McDonnell Ciccarelli and her husband, Phil Ciccarelli. Luca is also welcomed by big sister Chloe Amelia, great-grandmother Doris McDonnell, and Chicago area grandparents, Claudia and Eric Combs and Sam and Peg Ciccarelli.

Laura Kish, from Bath, has been named the 2023 Greater Akron/Canton Woman of Impact Award Winner. The recognition by the American Heart Association is awarded annually to the nominee who earns the most points during a nine-week fundraising and heart health education drive.

Kish led her team to raise funds and participate in mission-impact activities for the American Heart Association’s signature women’s initiative. In a press release, Kish stated, “Taking part in the Woman of Impact program was personal for me because I have a family history of heart disease. I am so proud of the work we have accomplished and the impact we have made.”

Collectively, this year’s Akron/Canton nominees and their teams raised $70,000 for the Akron/Canton American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement.

Annabelle Thorne was named to the Dean’s list at Miami University for the 2022 fall semester. She is earning a B.S. in Social Work, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music in Social Work.

Elise Clawson was named to the Miami University fall 2022 President’s list. She is earning a B.S. in Education Studies.

Ola Shihab earned a Master of Science in Learning Design and Technology from the University of Maryland Global Campus in fall 2022.

Jeremy Dang has been named to the Dean’s List at Youngstown State University for fall semester 2022.

Kaitlyn Froelich has been named to the fall 2022 Dean’s list at the University of Findlay.

Virginia Hunt has been named to the Dean’s List at John Carroll University for the fall 2022 semester.

Emerson College student Peter Kolodziej earned Dean’s List honors for the fall 2022 semester.

Heather Macasek was named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester at University of Maryland Global Campus.
