Township Corner

The township contracts for about 800 tons of salt every year and we haven’t used half of that this year. The remainder can be used next season and the price should drop for next year.

I went to the Township Association of Summit County meeting in March and listened to a presentation by Al Benedetti, president of Phoenix Asphalt Reclamation. They have a machine that takes up asphalt, heats it up and puts it back down, all in one pass. The village used their process on Southern Road. It will be interesting to see how it holds up. The cost is about half as much as new asphalt and is a process we could possibly consider. We have gotten paving bids back on some of the roads in Glencairn and they came in about $65,000 lower than Summit County engineer’s estimate.

Two people have retired from the Richfield Joint Recreation District board. It’s a tough job and I thank them for their service. We are still looking for one replacement. If you are interested, please contact Administrator Mindy Lott.

We will have a new backup generator installed soon. It was purchased with Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council Energized Community grant funds and American Rescue Act Plan funds. This will keep our office and road departments in full working order.

We will have a levy on the May 2 ballet for trash and recycling pickup. Please give us your support. ∞
