Feb. 2—A resident reported a case of fraud after an account with USAA was falsely created in his name. The account was never closed, and the resident was told he owes over $11,000.

Feb. 3—Police responded to a psychiatric situation on Arboretum Circle after a man with depression ingested an excess amount of medications. He was taken to the hospital.

A resident reported being the victim of theft after being scammed into sending $15,000 to an entity claiming to be her bank.

Feb. 4—Officers responded to a Millrace Lane residence for report of an unresponsive female sitting in a lawn chair within her garage. She was later pronounced dead.

A female called stating she and her boyfriend were engaged in a fight after she broke up with him.

Feb. 5—Police arrested a driver for OVI after he crashed his truck into a home on Dunham Road.

Officers arrested a driver for OVI, BAC and open container at the intersection of Sagamore and Valley View roads.

Feb. 7—A female resident reported unauthorized withdrawals from her PNC bank account.

Police received a walk-in complaint of theft after withdrawals were made from a woman’s bank account totaling $1,391.

Feb. 8—A male resident reported identity theft after someone attempted to file a tax return in his name.

Three unauthorized charges were made to a resident’s checking account. Police created a report of the fraud.

Feb. 9—Officers responded to a gas station on Olde 8 Road for report of theft by employee.

Police responded to a Glen Allen Drive residence for report of an unresponsive female. A Sagamore officer used an AED to shock the patient and she was later taken to the hospital. The victim made what the doctors called a miracle recovery.

Feb. 10—Police responded to a call from a concerned party for the welfare of their friend. The friend was found lying on the floor of his apartment on Valley View Road and was taken to the hospital.

Feb. 11—Police stopped a driver for traffic violations, which led to an arrest for OVI. The driver was uncooperative during the booking process and showed disrespect to officers.

Feb. 12—A male was bitten by a dog on Baptist Circle.

Feb. 13—A resident fell victim to a days-long telephone scheme in which she was scammed out of almost $40,000 after an alleged law enforcement member coerced her to send money to resolve a non-existent crime.

Feb. 17—Officers responded to a Glen Allen Drive residence for report of a welfare check that could have been a domestic dispute between a couple that had broken up.

Feb. 18—Police responded to report of a vehicle in a ditch on Chaffee Road. The driver was charged with OVI, open container, no valid operator’s license and failure to control.

Feb. 21—A resident asked for a welfare check on his children, who were staying with their mother.

Feb. 22—A detective with the Cleveland Police Department contacted Sagamore Hills police about a missing person who may be in Sagamore Hills. The National Parks later found the missing person deceased, north of Sagamore Road and West of Valley View Road deep in the woods.

Officers were dispatched to a Mottl Reserve residence for report of fraud. A fraudulent charge was made on the resident’s debit card.

Feb. 25—Property damage was reported at a Sagamore Road residence after part of the resident’s chicken wire fence was cut in the backyard.

Feb. 26—A female reported telecommunications harassment from her ex-boyfriend’s mother.

Officers dispatched an injured skunk in the backyard of an Inverlane Drive home.

The daughter of a resident called the police to check on her mother because her brother often stays with her and was possibly off his medications he takes for mental illness.

Feb. 28—Police took a report for lost property. A resident said he believed his passport was stolen from his personal vehicle while parked in the driveway on Shorthorn Drive. ∞
