Information provided by the Brecksville Police Department

Feb. 3 – Police assisted the driver of a disabled vehicle on state Route 82, west of Wiese Road around 7:30 p.m. The driver told police she was traveling west through the construction zone when her vehicle struck multiple steel plates in the roadway, causing her tire to go flat and damaging the rim. The officers were able to assist the woman in changing her spare tire and she was advised to follow up with the city’s safety director regarding the damage to her vehicle.

Feb. 10 – Police pulled over a drive on Interstate 77 near state Route 82 for a window tint violation and discovered she had a suspended license and an active warrant issued by the Willoughby Police Department for shoplifting.  The woman told police that she was driving her sister’s vehicle and was not the individual police were looking for. After repeatedly denying her true identity several times, the woman told police she was pregnant and had to urinate. When police explained that they would be impounding her vehicle and that her children would be transported with her back to the police station. As police began to move the children to police cruisers for transport, the woman allegedly squatted next to the patrol vehicle to urinate. She was then taken into custody and transported without incident.

Feb. 17 – Police responded to Riverview Road just after 8:30 p.m. after a motorists reported a one-car accident in which a vehicle occupied by one person struck the guardrail. Upon arrival, police spotted heavy front-end damage on the vehicle and the driver admitted he had a “significant amount to drink” at a Chippewa Road bar and was traveling to a motel in Richfield. The driver performed poorly on sobriety tests and refused a breath test, allegedly telling officers that he would fall if he attempted to take the test. Once at the station, a breath test was administered and he was found to have a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.188. He was cited on charges of OVI and was transported to the North Royalton Jail after he was unable to post bond. ∞
