Garden Club announces 2023 officers

Chippewa Garden Club members gathered at Olesia’s Taverne of Richfield for a dinner meeting Jan. 12 to begin the club’s activities for the year. Club Historian Margaret DeWolf presented a lookback at the organization’s 2022 accomplishments, which included winning the Garden Club of Ohio’s Jean Ladson Award for the Most Outstanding Garden Club of the Year in the medium-size category.

The agenda also included installing the new board of officers in a ceremony officiated by Simonne Benoit, the club’s outgoing vice president. After the new officers were installed, members voted to approve the proposed 2023 budget to allow funding for the many community projects and activities planned for the upcoming year. New yearbooks and updated membership brochures, compiled by member Kathy Habib, were distributed to attendees for their reference to the club’s 2023 calendar and for gardening resources.

The new board of officers include Lynne Evans, president; JoAnn Bartsch, vice-president; Sandy Ladebue, secretary; Kathy Habib, treasurer; Debbie Schuckert and Lynne Evans, co-finance; and Margaret DeWolf, historian. The club’s monthly meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of the month, at 6:30 p.m., at the Brecksville Human Services Building, 2 Community Dr., in Brecksville. Guests are always welcome.
