Voters will see a levy renewal and addition on the May ballot for the Independence Local School district.

The renewal of the existing emergency levy, which expires in December 2024, amounts to $4.25 million, and the additional emergency levy is $3 million, for a total of $7.25 million each year for a period of 10 years, according to the resolution. The Cuyahoga County Fiscal Officer determined the millage rate to be 13.96 mills for each dollar of taxable value, which amounts to $452 for each $100,000 of property valuation.

Independence Board of Education members voted unanimously to send the levy to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.
