Mayor’s Corner

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone has had a safe and sane holiday season. We look forward to 2023.

As a reminder, weather permiting, we are picking up Christmas trees through the first week of January.

In 2022 we repaired, replaced and authorized new infrastructure. We spent less than we have taken in and funded capital accounts for future replacement and repair. Throughout the year, we worked to keep everyone safe and healthy.

We did this as a team. I want to humbly thank everyone who made the accomplishments of 2022 possible. I am, and we are, so blessed to have such an outstanding council, department heads, safety forces, services and administration. Kudos to all the folks who served on all of our boards and commissions.

Congratulations to Ryan Cunningham, Freddie Mealy, Drew Gifford and Andrew Froelich for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in Boy Scout Troop 385. All have shown excellent leadership and team-building skills.

The construction on state Route 303 should be finished by mid-month. ODOT will repave 303 from the Hinckley border to the Peninsula border this spring and summer. Along with the paving, 303 will be lowered near the Scanwood and Briarwood entrances.

The 2022 asphalt program is complete. We paved 12 streets, seven by the recycled method and five by the standard method.

Through December 14, looking only at the general fund, 99% of the revenues have been collected and 90.8% of the budget was expended. 2022-year end will be reported next month.
