Trustees Corner

It’s the happiest time of year here in Hinckley as we are winding down after a very busy 2022.

The Hinckley Police Association will be hosting its annual Cops, Kids and Claus event again this year on Dec. 10 at town hall. This event is funded entirely by the township’s police association and aids families who need a little extra help around the holidays to make it magical for their children. Kids selected for this event are from our township, as well as neighboring townships and school districts. Children will head to Walmart to shop with their $300 gift cards after enjoying a pancake breakfast. When they return, gifts are wrapped, children receive new winter coats and the families receive groceries to prepare full holiday meals.

The Hinckley Fire Department will again be hosting the Santa parade on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 9 a.m. To see when Santa will be flying by your house, visit the Hinckley Firefighter Association Facebook page to see the route and for live updates.

The board of trustees is finalizing plans on what projects will be selected to use the ARPA funds from the federal grant. Proposed projects include installing solar panels on some township buildings, funding a new roof for town hall, accessing county water and road projects to name a few.

Our zoning board has requested a change in zoning for downtown Hinckley. There will be a public hearing on Dec. 6, at 5:30 p.m. Visit hinckleytwp.org, for a complete list of upcoming meetings. You can also access the township’s YouTube channel from the website and view any meetings you may have missed.

I want to thank you all for the support and communication you have given this year. Wishing you a safe and enjoyable holiday spent with family and friends.
