Twenty-five Revere football cheerleaders in grades 3-6 were recognized for participating in the Ohio Youth Football Cheerleaders Association competition at Hudson High School that included 591 cheerleaders.

Revere’s sixth-grade team finished second and included Sami Brubaker, Avery Coleman, GenevieveGorcz, Emma Kalal, Gigi Kennedy, Alaina Kestner, Hailey Maletich, Ella Sorace and Kylie Thompson.

The fifth-graders, finishing third, were Sienna Baxter, Mallory Beskid, Ella Bialik, Aleena Caipen, Harper Frederick, Audrey French, Elle Fuller, Fayth Meiser, Olivia Schultz and Josie Thompson.

The fourth-grade team finished second and was composed of Elin Jarvis, Rosie Kelly, Emily Kline, Gabriella McDivitt, Gia Mittiga, Zoey Sable, Lana Selig, Elizabeth Shimp, Grace Starkey, Alison Ulrich, Anna Valenzky and Mya Valle.

The third-grade team also placed and included Hadley Affolter, Abigail Beskid, Mara Lapikas, Santina Pisano, MacKenzie Schultz and Sophia Zatelli.

Two minutes too many

The Minutemen boys soccer team fell to Lima Shawnee 3-2 in the regional finals, just missing the Division II state semifinals.

With the scored knotted at 2-2, Shawnee scored with two minutes to play in a match that was played in 25-30 mile-per-hour winds. AJ Catlett and Desmond Johnson scored the Revere goals.

In the regional semifinal match, the Minutemen shut out Bowling Green 2-0, as Ryan Hodgson scored both goals and Ryan Brown made both assists.

Revere, ranked No. 1 in the state going into the tournament, finished with an 18-2-2 record.

Making a run

Revere cross country runner Ellie Meech finished 29th (of 172 competitors) in the state tournament to earn All-Ohio honors. Her teammate, Megan Diulus, finished 50th at the state meet. The team finished in 11th place.

At the regional competition, Diulus finished eighth; Meech was ninth.∞
