New Richfield electrolysis studio promises a range of services

Recently accredited electrologists Maria Kelly and Diana Asaturyan are joining forces in Richfield. MHK Electrolysis and Purely Bare Electrolysis have opened under the same roof at 4615 West Streetsboro Rd. in hopes of helping those with unwanted hair.

The studio functions like a hair salon, with each electrologist being an independent contractor under the same roof. Kelly and Asaturyan have both had experience with unwanted hair and seeking electrolysis, and now want to help others who might have the same problem.

“We decided to look into something to change our careers … and to offer services to people who have suffered with unwanted hair,” said Kelly. “Both of us have sought out electrolysis services in the past, and we wanted to open up a business that would help other people get over what we have gone through, because we know the need is out there.”

Asaturyan was a nurse for the past 15 years. Kelly did not disclose her background, but the two began training at Ohio Electrology Institute in Mansfield in September of last year. They had the hope of opening their own business following training.

“We finished [training] in April of 2022. We’ve completed 600 hours of training,” Asaturyan said. “We learned anything and everything that we could about electrolysis … including the anatomy and physiology.”

Having two electrologists in the studio offers more flexibility for clients. They can cover a wider range of services and be available for more time slots. “We can tag team,” said Kelly.

Kelly explained that electrolysis is permanent, painless and cost effective. “Laser is the biggest rage right now, but it isn’t permanent. … It’s a reduction.” she said. “Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved permanent solution.”

Kelly noted that a number of factors such as abnormal hormone levels and stress can contribute to hair growth in unwanted areas. With such a private subject, Kelly and Asaturyan want to help as many people as possible while being “open, relatable, and effective.”

“There’s such a need. We’ve been through this process ourselves, so we know what to expect,” Asaturyan said. ∞
