Oct. 19 board of trustees special meeting

Sagamore Hills trustees approved hiring a new full-time police officer for the township’s police department.

Robert Patterson rose to the top of 30 candidates who were screened for the position, according to Trustee David DePasquale. Patterson will be required to complete field training, and his compensation will be $25.75 per hour. He will start working as a full-time patrol officer for the department effective Nov. 1. DePasquale also recommended that the township order a police utility vehicle now, which they hope to have delivered next year. He said that costs of the vehicles have increased, and police departments in other communities have had orders canceled. Both he and Trustee John Zaccardelli approved a resolution to order a new 2023 police utility vehicle not to exceed $60,000. Trustee Paul Schweikert was not in attendance.
