High schoolers explore post-secondary options

North Royalton High School hosted #NRAspireHigher, a Career, College and Military Exploration Day on Oct. 25. The day began with the ninth- and 10th-graders taking the PSAT followed by a career fair featuring 35 different career paths.

Students were able to interact with individuals who work in these various professions, learning specifics about each career, including required education, training and anticipated pay.  Several branches of the military, including the US Naval Academy, were also represented.

Lorain County Community College and Ohio University also were present to talk with the students.

Guest speaker Dr. Laymon Hicks, an author, professor, consultant and motivational speaker, spoke to the students about the importance in finding their “why” and being resilient in their pursuit of their life goals. Later that afternoon, the sophomore class visited Cuyahoga Valley Career Center and explored program options available to them during their junior and senior years.
