Bond levy fails at polls

The $165 million bond levy for the Nordonia City School District failed on the Nov. 8 ballot with 60.41% of voters against the levy and 39.59% for the levy, according to unofficial election results from the Summit County Board of Elections.

The 7.75-mill levy would have been used to build three new school buildings in the district. “I am grateful the board gave the community the opportunity to voice their opinion, and I am grateful for the feedback the voters gave,” said Superintendent Dr. Joe Clark. “It was clear they did not like the master plan that was developed by our steering committee. With the bond failing, our facility issues still remain. I expect the board will soon begin discussing where they go next, be it another try for this plan, a modified plan, or something entirely different. Doing nothing is not an option.”
