Holiday Market to showcase local crafters, help charity

An alternative to giving someone another boring tie for Christmas, crafters at the Hinckley Holiday Market will be presenting a plethora of unique and beautifully made crafts on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at Valliere Golf Club, 6969 Boston Rd.

Hinckley resident Nikki Long organized the inaugural holiday market last year, which resulted in a packed room full of happy customers and the motivation to make the mkarket an annual event.

“It seemed there wasn’t an event in the area where local crafters could offer their homemade items and I wanted to give [them] an opportunity to showcase their talents,” said Long.

This year, the Market will feature more than 30 vendors and the money raised will help fund the Hinckley Police Department’s annual Cops, Kids and Claus event. In addition to sale items, the market will feature a bake sale, photo opportunities with Santa and raffle items donated by local vendors.

Products included in this year’s event will include homemade elderberry syrup, essential oils, wood crafts, Color Street Nail products, Norwex products, handmade soaps, various fabric items, jewelry, framed art, handmade chocolates, Christmas decor, knitted/crochet items, bakery, skincare and makeup products, driftwood crafts, artwork, and small business services. A crafter who makes turkey calls will also be on hand, as Moonstone Coffee, which will have a truck set up at the event.

“Last year, many people commented on how nice it was to have something homemade and unique to give to friends,” Long said. “People also liked that the proceeds were going to help fund the annual Cops, Kids and Claus event put on by our own Hinckley Police Department. This is a fun way to check off some of those gift items on your holiday shopping list.” ∞
