BVS accepting funding requests

Bath Volunteers for Service, a volunteer organization whose purpose is service through volunteerism and fundraising, is opening up its grant application for Akron area nonprofits and charities that benefit families and children.

BVS raises money for grants through its annual “Tour of Distinctive Homes,” Bath Horse Show and “Trivia and Tacos” events. BVS also sponsors special service projects and collection drives for organizations such as the Red Cross, Salvation Army, CASA and Snow Angels.

Last year BVS awarded nearly $33,000 in direct grants to 28 Akron-area service organizations, $700 to local civic associations and $2,250 in college/vocational training scholarships to students in the Revere School District. Examples of past grants include:

  • Meals for homeless women and children at Access.
  • Transportation to classes and training for participants at Jump on Board for Success, which aids young mothers and women, focusing on those at risk for generational poverty.
  • Equipment for the new Sound & Music Studio at Akron Children’s Museum.
  • Grocery gift cards for families struggling with the cost and trauma of cancer through Stewart’s Caring Place.

Area organizations must apply for 2023 allocations no later than Dec. 31. Qualifying groups (501c3) may find the allocation project request form on the BVS website, bathvolunteersforservice.com under the “BVS Gives Back” tab, or by sending a request for an application to BVS, c/o Assistant Treasurer, P.O.
