Sign-ups open for Imagination Library

Medina County District Library is on a mission to get Medina County babies and preschoolers registered for a free book a month until their fifth birthday through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which is now a state-wide initiative.
“Early literacy is what we do. It’s such an easy process to enroll on our website,” said Kelly Halleen, Brunswick Library Children’s Department Supervisor. “We encourage families to register their children or grandchildren. We will remind families and help them register on our public computers at story times this fall.”

Register at mcdl.info/earlyliteracy and look for the Imagination Library logo. MCDL locations also have posters with scannable QR codes that take you to the registration page from your phone. These posters and accompanying flyers are being distributed to community partners including Medina County Health Department, Catholic Charities and nearly 20 day-care and preschool centers around the county.

In 1995, inspired by her father’s inability to read and write, Parton founded the Imagination Library for children in her home county in Tennessee.  Today the program spans five countries and gifts more than one million free books each month. ∞
