Blue Star Memorial Marker finds new home

The Emerald Necklace Garden Club-sponsored Blue Star Memorial Marker, which honors all men and women who serve in the United States Armed Forces, was relocated to the entrance of the Broadview Heights Recreation Center this spring.

The marker, originally installed at Broadview Heights City Hall in 2010, was removed and stored by the city’s service department during the city hall renovation project.

The club has since surrounded the marker with Ohio native plants, including goldenrod fireworks, purple echinacea, ornamental sage and sedge ice dancer, providing a colorful entrance to the rec center walkway.
