Says Lunar New Year is correct name for holiday

To the Editor:

I am Hudson resident and read your monthly magazine, and thank you for informing us on all the wonderful news and events for our community.

I just want to mention in your article, “June City Council Meeting” (page 8), you wrote that fireworks are permitted on special days such as New Year’s Eve, Chinese New Year, etc. I understand that in the past that it may have been called Chinese New Year but it should be corrected as Lunar New Year because most East Asian cultures such as Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, etc., celebrate this holiday. Naming it Chinese New Year only specifies one out of many other Asian countries that celebrate this holiday.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Donna Lee
