District names new athletic director, coaches

Jonathan Bailey will join the Highland Local School District as its new Athletic Director/Assistant Principal at Highland High School, effective Aug. 1. He replaces Nick Ranallo who recently accepted the Athletic Director position for the Westlake City Schools.

The Highland Board of Education welcomed Bailey during its May 16 regular meeting.

Bailey has 15 years of experience in education, with the past six in administration, including an extensive background in coaching. He is currently employed as the Athletic Director for the Keystone Local Schools where he has worked for the past four years, Bailey oversees the district’s athletic programs for grades 7-12. He previously served 11 years in the Brunswick City Schools as a middle school assistant principal and as a physical science and world history teacher at the high school.

According to Highland Schools Superintendent Catherine Aukerman, Bailey comes to the district as an accomplished leader. “His insight and experience, coupled with his passion for student success, will contribute to the overall growth of our student-athletes both on and off the field,” she stated.

Bailey, who resides in Brunswick with his wife and children, said he is excited to bring his positive energy to the Highland Schools and motivate students and coaches to excel to their greatest ability.

“I look forward to collaborating with all members of the Highland family – staff, students, parents, and community members so that we can continue to build upon the rich tradition of athletics that the Highland community has come to expect from the school district,” Bailey said.
