Local business milestones

Locally owned businesses are part of the fabric of a community. When residents own and operate a business, they add to the character of a community. And often the owners are special characters themselves!

Richfield Auto Center  celebrated its 75th anniversary this year. Martin Pedigo started the business in 1947, the year his son, Martin Van Pedigo was born. Van, took over the business in 1977.  He retired in 2017 and sold the business to Vinny Zaccaro.

Constantines Garden Center is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year. Founded by John Constantine in 1957, in the same year that his son, Johnny Constantine, was born. Johnny has worked in the business his whole life and continues to run it today.

Jim Voclaire has been a conscientious electrician in Richfield for many years. He has decided to retire. He said his only advertising was in the Richfield Times, and he received a couple of new clients each month. Thank you and best wishes, Jim.

A special event was held at Olesia’s Taverne of Richfield to benefit the people of Ukraine. Held at the Taverne the event raised over $20,000. Olseia, who was born in Russia and reared in Ukraine, still has family in the country. She plans to have another event in a coming month.
