Revere Council of PTAs announces district educator, Helping Hands award recipients

The Revere Council of PTAs selected Dr. Darren LeBeau, music educator at Revere High School and Bath Elementary, to receive its 2021-2022 Outstanding District Educator Award. Criteria for this award include making a positive impact on the lives of children, dedication to the mission of the PTA, and provision of PTA involvement or support. The Revere High School PTSA submitted a recommendation for LeBeau.

LeBeau serves as the band director for fifth grade band, RHS marching band, RHS concert bands and RHS jazz band. He works tirelessly to ensure the music department at Revere is an award-winning program. From summer marching band camp to RHS music department band trips to Disney World, LeBeau is committed to giving the Revere band students opportunities to showcase their talents. He skillfully runs a marching band of up to 145 students and encourages involvement in musical endeavors outside of the classroom by nominating students for honors band and all-star band events, solo and ensemble competitions, and local youth orchestras and symphonic bands. He is also involved with the training and coordination of the student tech department for all RHS auditorium events, including the annual fall play and spring musical. Under LeBeau’s tutelage, RHS has had many alumni go on to music programs and become music educators.

Revere Council of PTAs chose Marianne Grandon as its 2021-2022 Helping Hands Award recipient. The Helping Hands Award is presented annually to a PTA member/volunteer who has worked diligently on behalf of children. Criteria for this award include PTA involvement and support, making a positive impact on the lives of children, participating in activities involving children, and being dedicated to the PTA’s mission.

Grandon, whose name was also submitted by the RHS PTSA, has been actively involved in PTSA for eight years, including a 3-year stint as president. Over the years, she has served on numerous committees including the Revere PTA’s “Celebration of the Arts” district-wide art show planning committee, and the district’s building and strategic planning committees. She also supports RHS as a volunteer swim coach and was a meet manager for the team. She’s an active band volunteer and a past Revere Music Parents Association board member. Grandon also serves on the Revere Council of PTA’s board and is currently its treasurer. She diligently works in collaboration with teachers and administration to better the physical, mental, and social education of all RHS students.
