Fire station bay project to be re-bid

March 1 township trustees meeting

Trustee Melissa Augustine announced March 1 that a project to replace the former fire station’s bay doors with energy efficient French-style doors will be rebid after the bids came in $50,000 higher than anticipated.

The project is the second step in an overall effort to repurpose the former fire station bay area after the new fire station was built further south on Ridge Road.  Augustine said residents expressed an interest in using the former bay area as a community room. To do that, the township has to replace the three bay doors with leak cold air into the building.

“We are pleased that this entire project will be paid through a $100,000 anonymous donation,” said Augustine.

In other news, Hinckley resident Jim Bialowsky asked Trustee Jack Swedyk if he has ever discussed the annexation of the corner of West 130th and Rt. 303 (location of the senior housing project) with any Medina County or Brunswick City officials.  Swede replied; “No, I personally have not but I think it’s always a concern.”

Trustees also decided to change the time of their public work sessions to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday mornings. ∞
