Superintendent’s Corner

Dear Bear Families,

As we made our way through February, it is hard to believe that spring activities are right around the corner. We have certainly had our share of inclement weather and I am looking forward to not having to watch the weather channel quite as much!

This spring, we will engage in a process to help develop a new strategic plan for the district. Our strategic plan will identify what we want to accomplish, how we plan to accomplish it and how we will hold ourselves accountable to make sure those things happen. The plan will create a framework for decision-making as we encounter questions and opportunities. A survey has been sent to all staff for their initial feedback. We will be sending a parent survey as well, so please keep an eye on your email.

We have received several questions about what we plan to do administratively now that Assistant Superintendent Jim Presot has announced his resignation from the district. We have been looking at our current administrative structure and evaluating how we want to move forward. A communication with the restructuring plan will be released in the next few weeks. We are not looking to add additional administration to the district, but we do look to reallocate based on our needs.

At the February board meeting, the Board of Education made the decision to accept an initial offer for the sale of the Valley Vista property. We should be entering the purchase agreement stage soon and then the buyer has a period of time to perform their due diligence. Once the sale is complete, the funds from the sale will be used for permanent improvement projects within the district. We have a list of items to consider for these funds and will communicate a final decision on exactly what they are used for when that decision is made.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please call or email.

Thank you,

Mike
