Trustees Corner

I hope you are all looking forward to welcoming an early spring and hopefully leaving this very white winter behind us. We are also ready to welcome back our tradition of the Buzzard Day pancake breakfast this year following a two-year hiatus due to COVID.

The Pancake Breakfast will be hosted again by the Hinckley Chamber Commerce. The festivities will be held at the new Hinckley Elementary School and will require pre-purchased breakfasts this year. You can order online at hinckleyohchamber.com Tickets must be purchased by March 4.

The steering committee that is working on the audit of the comprehensive plan has now met twice to discuss the direction and growth our town will move towards in the future regarding business, development and safety forces. The committee plans to meet again at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, at Hinckley Town Hall. The meeting is also available via Zoom, with login information available hinckleytwp.org

As a gentle reminder, if you attend the meeting via Zoom, this allows you to view but not comment. I encourage you to attend this public meeting and voice your feedback.

Our fiscal officer, Martha Catherwood hosted a public information session on Feb. 12 to discuss the township’s finances. This was an excellent example of the transparency in our local government and the desire by our board to ensure every resident has a thorough understanding of how the township finances are managed. Many thanks to Martha for all the time she set aside to create and execute this excellent presentation.

I hope you all have a wonderful Saint Patrick’s Day filled with sunshine and luck, and I look forward to seeing you all at Buzzard Day on March 20.
