Sand Run and Stan Hywet offer additional hiking options

Summit Metroparks has closed Sand Run Parkway to vehicles from Sand Run Road to the ford during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the road closed, walkers and runners can easily maintain physical distancing across the full length of the roadway.

Parking is available at lots along Sand Run Parkway at Revere Road and also at Mingo Lodge.

State Rep. Bill Roemer announced that, in cooperation with the Summit County Health Department, the beautiful walking paths surrounded by spring flowers at Stan Hywet Gardens in Akron are open to the public at no charge during the pandemic.

The gardens will be open Wednesday through Sunday, 8:30–10 a.m. for seniors, and 10 a.m.–3 p.m. for all guests. Donations will be accepted.
